Letter to the Editor: Former Mayors are Pleased with Hovland’s Leadership
As former Mayors of Edina, Dennis Maetzold and Fred Richards are quite pleased with how the City of Edina has grown and improved under the leadership of Mayor Jim Hovland.

Letter to the Editor: Hovland is a leader for all Edina
Mayor Jim Hovland is a leader of principal, integrity, and authentic, broad-based community partnership. He does not pivot his key messaging according to audience or stakeholder. He does not need to because his message and his hard work are in service of elevating and amplifying all of Edina.
Truth Matters
Misinformation and Disinformation in political races has now reached Edina. Let’s not let what is happening nationally happen here. Truth matters in our country and it matters in Edina, too.

Letter to the editor: Hovland has record of community service
To the Editor: The advantage that Jim Hovland brings to the Edina mayor’s election this November is that we know very well how he will serve our community, based on his clear record of service in that position. We know that he loves working with people to make our community better and that he does this with great dedication, integrity and stamina.
Letter to the editor: Edina incumbents serve city well
This coming election is an important one for the city of Edina. I have lived here 17 years. During that time, my daughter attended our wonderful school system, beginning with French Immersion and graduating from EHS in 2020. During that time, I have paid attention to city government and have interacted with the Mayor and every City Council.
City of Edina Resident Quality of life survey
View the key findings from the 2023 Quality of Life Survey. Edina residents enjoy an exceptional quality of life. Edina residents continue to rate the quality of life highly, with 93% of survey respondents awarding excellent or good marks in 2023. This rating was higher than national benchmark and similar to peer communities in Minnesota. About 9 in 10 respondents indicated that they would recommend living in Edina to someone asks and would remain in the City for the next 5 years. About two-thirds of residents rated the sense of community in Edina as excellent or good.
Article in the Minnesota Star Tribune by Jim Hovland
I was quite surprised to read in the Minnesota Star Tribune (“Edina residents question tax incentives for redevelopment project,” Aug. 18) that the City Council of Edina, acting in its economic development capacity as Edina’s Housing and Redevelopment Authority, as stated by the reporter, “advanced nearly $23 million worth of tax-increment financing (TIF) to help fund a $300 million project planned for the 8-acre site that’s currently home to Macy’s Furniture Gallery.” This is a misunderstanding of the action taken by the Edina HRA on Aug. 15.

Before that he served terms as a councilmember beginning in 1997.
